Matt's Train Table TestimonialClick here to learn more about building with the toy train table plans . . .
I found the train table instructions very easy to follow. The building process went quickly. In fact, it took only a couple of hours to complete. I remain very pleased with the strength of this table. My twin two-year-old boys love playing with their trains on this table, as well as building blocks, Matchbox cars, you name it.
I easily can recommend this project to anyone who is handy enough to operate a powered saw, drill and tape measure. If you’re not handy enough to operate a table or circular saw – no problem, buy the wood from your favorite local home improvement store (i.e. Lowes or Home Depot) and they will cut it to size for you. Since you create the table from raw material, it gives you a great opportunity to customize the decorations for your child. Economically speaking, this is a great alternative to the exorbitantly priced ‘name brand’ train tables out there. And I would venture to say that these tables, when built correctly, are far stronger than the store-bought versions. When I built this table, I envisioned it lasting for a long time. I figure that it will still be around once the kids have lost interest in Thomas and Friends. With that in mind, I painted the table top with a chalkboard paint (which you can get at any home improvement store). The table can do double duty as a chalkboard of sorts. I also purchased an additional piece of MDF board to use in the future as a table top for other interests that the kids will develop, such as Legos, Lincoln Logs, or Erector Sets. In short, this is a great train table. Thanks for making this project much easier than it would have been without the plans. Matt
