We chose this table because we wanted something sturdier than the commercially made particle board tables. We made adjustments to size to accomodate a larger child. We used solid poplar and a maple plywood for the top, so our cost was $150. As you can see, we only used about 1/2" lip and we chose not to stain or decorate the frame.

Patrick built the table in under 5 hours. Bethany freehanded the top in acrylics and the whole table was finished with varnish. The other side of the top is left natural with varnish and it makes a beatiful surface for many activities.
