I bought the plans back in January but since my husband never got around to making it I gave the train table building plans to my Dad. He said the plans were very easy to follow. He had the table built in an afternoon! He painted it white and I did the rest.

I bought a train stencil and some acrylic paints at A.C. Moore and hand painted the train cars on the two long sides. I used a cheap letter stencil I found at Target to paint "All Aboard" on the ends. I just randomly painted water, grass and rocks on the table top.

I think it turned out fantastic! And the best part is it didn't cost anywhere near the price they sell the "Thomas Playtable" for. I think it cost us around $60 for the supplies. It is very sturdy and my son just loves it. There's plenty of room underneath too. I got a cheap under the bed train trundle and it fits nicely.

The best part is now our son can have his train tracks set up all the time. No pulling it apart and putting it back together again day after day! He plays with his trains every day so I expect we will get many years use out of it.

Personally, I think it is much nicer than those expensive tables. You can't even get a Thomas playtable for what it cost to build the whole thing yourself. I would advise anyone who is looking for a train table to get these plans. You will not be disappointed. One of the best things I ever did!
