As promised last week, this week’s blog is going to be about toy storage solutions for small spaces. Toy trains are fabulous toys that are fun to play with, however, finding a safe place to store all the small parts that come with toy train sets can be difficult, especially if you live in a small house or a small apartment. Fortunately, with a little ingenuity you can find great places to store your toy trains and all their parts.
When you have a small living area it is important that you learn how to maximize every nook and cranny in your home. Using furniture that doubles as storage devises is your first option for finding places to store toys and toy trains. Foot stools that have storage, benches with storage and futons that have pull out drawers are all great storage options. In the bedroom you can store toys and toy trains in plastic bins that slide under the bed.
If you have a home with an attic then this can be a great place to store toys that are not being used. To store things in the attic you will want to place the items in a plastic tub that has a lid before you put them up in the attic. This will prevent the toys from being damaged or contaminated by bugs, mice or insulation. If your attic is not finished you can place plywood across the rafters to provide a sturdy place to store tubs, boxes and other containers.
Toy storage is a concern that a lot of people have, especially after the holiday season. Keep in mind that when storing toy wooden train sets or collectible brio trains, you want to place them in an airtight container to prevent moisture, pests and other contaminants from destroying your toy train collection.
