The Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum
My past few blogs have been about toy train museums. Today’s blog is going to be about a toy and train museum located in West Virginia. This museum is a great place to visit if you are local, or if you will be vacationing in the area.
The Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum is located at 144 Kruger Street in Wheeling, West Virginia. This museum is housed in a remarkable Victorian school house that has been completely restored. Here you will find both self-guided and guided tours, great displays of both toys and toy trains, interactive displays, a gift shop, HO and O Gauge toy train layouts and a special room that is the home to a special display on the history of the Ohio Valley. Finally, while visiting this museum don’t forget to check out their restored caboose.
There are a lot or reasons to visit the Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum besides its great toy train displays. This beautiful building is also the site of several toy train, toy and collectors events throughout the year. During this upcoming year the Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum will be hosting the JediCon on October 4 and the Annual Marx Toy and Train Collectors National Convention during the Father’s Day weekend in June.
The Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum is a great place to find gift ideas for children as well as a great place to learn about the history of various toy wooden train sets. Return next Friday for a discussion on toy storage solutions for small spaces.
