Toy Train Events at the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum
in January and February 2008

If you have been following this blog then you have been reading about upcoming toy train events. Today I’d like to shift focus to the events planned by railroad museums. This blog will focus on the events sponsored and hosted by the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum located at 901 West Pratt Street, Baltimore, Maryland.

In January the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad Museum will be hosting a number of special events. To kick things off, the museum will be offering free train rides with the price of admission. However, weather and mechanical problems may cause this offer to be withdrawn. If you have a child between two and five years of age who loves trains, then you will want to visit the museum on Wednesday January 16 at 10:30 a.m. for Toddler Time. This is a special story hour where the museum’s story tellers read through classical tales of the railroad.

In February the museum will be celebrating Black History Month. They will offer displays, special events and special story times that examine the contributions African Americans have made to the railroad industry. The museum will also be hosting two Toddler Times this month. One on February 6 and one on February 26 at 10:30 a.m. Finally, on Valentine’s Day the museum will be offer visitors $1 off the price of admission.

Train museums can be a great place to learn the histories behind the real trains that inspired Brio trains, Lego train sets and other toy wooden train sets. They can also be a great place to inspire the next generation to enjoy trains.

I was wondering if someone could help me date and perhaps identify a antique wooden train. It is a two piece set consisting of a engine and one car. The car has a print stating New York Pawtucket, inside the car are small rectangular Victorian style letters of the alphabet complete. If there is someone willing to assist me I could provide some photos. Thankyou in advance
