Today’s blog is going to start a new series on toy train table plan projects. Each week we will discuss one project that you can complete. To kick things off I’ll be covering the steps for selecting pre-existing toy wooden train table plans.
The first step that you need to take before you shop around for pre-existing train table plans is to figure out the size and shape of the table. A good way to do this is to simply measure out an area where the table is to be located. Remember to leave enough space for your kids, or grandkids, to move around the outside perimeter. This means that you will need a buffer zone of about 12 to 18 inches around the perimeter of your table.
The second step is to figure out what type of activities the table will facilitate. For example, many train table plans stories recounted by past customers include brio track setups, legos, hot wheels and dolls. Knowing what the table will be used for will help you find a plan that will fit the bill. If you aren’t sure what the table will be used for then simply look at the toys your kids or grandkids already have. If they have a collection of legos then chances are the table will be occasionally used for setting up lego projects in addition to a play area for their toy trains.
Now that you have an idea about what the table will be used for, and the amount of space you have for the table, you are ready to shop for a table plan design. These designs can be found at hobby stores, online and in wood pattern books.
