I am going to change the timing of my toy train event announcements to provide you with more time to plan to attend them. From now on, I will be listing announcements for events that feature toy train tables displays at least one week in advance.
The first event that is scheduled for next weekend is the Celebration at the Station. This event is scheduled for May 10 at the O. Winston Link Museum located at 101 Shenandoah Avenue, Roanoke, Virginia 24016. The event will be open to the public from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Admission will be $5 for general admission, however, you can save a dollar by bringing in a canned food item to donate to their food drive. This is a museum event that will include: food and beverages, NS exhibition cars, a red caboose, garden scale trains and historical railroad entertainment.
If you are looking for Thomas the Tank Engine or Brio Trains to complete your collection, then you will want to make plans to attend the James River Division NMRA/MER Meet. It is scheduled for May 10. It will be located at the Church of the Redeemer, 2341 Winterfield Road, Richmond, Virginia 23113. The doors will open at 9:30 a.m. and layout tours will run from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. This admission to this event is free and there will be door prizes, a 50/50 raffled, layout tours and a white elephant table.
