This week’s toy train events start out with the Hostlers Model Railroad Festival 2008. Located at the Ogden Union Stations, 25th Street and Wall Avenue, Ogden, Utah, this festival will show you the best of what Utah has to offer. It is scheduled for 02.29.08 through 03.02.08, and will be open Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The cost of admission will be $5 for adults and free for kids under 12 years of age. This is a festival event, so you are going to find a more activities than your typical train event. Here you will find train rides, operational railroad model layouts, a model railroad show and several drawings for door prizes. Food and beverages will also be available on site.
The second toy train event that you can attend this weekend is the Great Train Expo in Fort Worth, Texas. The Great Train Expos will be held at the Fort Worth Convention Center, which can be found at 1111 Houston Street, Fort Worth, Texas. It will be open to the public from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on both 03.01.08 and 03.02.08. Admission will be $7 for general admission and free to kids under 12. This is a large toy train trade event as well as a toy event. You will also find workshops, layouts and displays.
The third toy train event that you can attend is the Spring Meet-Arizona Divison, PSR, NMRA. It is scheduled for March 1 and will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. The cost of admission will be $7 for general admission and $3 for members. You can get in free if you sign up for NMRA membership at the door. This event will be held at the First Southern Baptist Church of Phoenix, which is located at 3100 W. Camelback Road, Phoenix, Arizona. The highlight of this event are the workshops that will be offered. There are three workshops to choose from and include: gasoline station evolution, modeling eagles from scratch and measuring prototype structures. Contest will also be held at this event, as will a mini-swap meet.
Special toy train cars, collectible legos train sets and other unique toy train items can be bought or sold at toy train events. Make plans to attend one this weekend.
