Shopping at April 2008 Train Events
This week we are going to talk about a couple of extended toy train events, as well as a single day event scheduled for this month. The first train event is an extended event and it is the West Virginia Railroad Ties Photography Exhibit. This exhibited opened March 1 and it will run through May 31, 2008. You can visit the exhibit by going to the Grafton B&O Railroad Heritage Center which is located at 100 East Main Street, Grafton, West Virginia 26354. The exhibit is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Fridays from 11:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Admission is free. The photography of Kevin Scanlon will be featured.
Another extended train event is the Hidden Valley Camping Resort Fall Train Meet. It opened on April 1 and will run through September 1, 2008. You can find this event at the Train Meet RD, in Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania 17844. The event is open daily from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The price of admission is $8 per vendor table, $3 for general admission and kids under 12 get in free. In addition to vendors’ tables, food booths will also be available.
The final event that I want to talk about this month is the 21st Annual New Braunfels TV Railroad “Jamboree.” This event is scheduled for the 26th of April. It will be held at the New Brunfels Texas Civic Center, which is located at 380 S. Seguin Street, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. The event will be open form 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Admission will cost $6 for adults, $2 for teens and kids will get in for a buck. This event features model layouts, vendors, train paintings and memorabilia.
Toy train events are a great place to find the pieces that you need to complete your toy train collection. Vendors typically offer popular toy train sets like Thomas the Tank Engine sets and Christmas train sets. See you next month!
