Just thought I'd send you pics of (and our thanks for) our wonderful new table made from your train table plans.

My husband put it together over the course of a few days (he took his time sanding and priming the wood). We went with taller legs (20”) so it would get lots of good use as our boys grow. We are so happy with the sturdiness of this table and both my sons (Jack, 3 ½ and Logan, 1 ½) play with it practically every day! I don’t even flinch when Logan climbs on top of it because I know how solid it is.

FYI, we primed the red oak with Kilz - a great, thick primer. Jack helped with the red paint. I loved painting the table top. I appreciate your tip about acrylic paint (less than a dollar each) found at craft stores. It took me only a couple hours to design and paint it. I had a great time. We live near the beach so I included the ocean/sand corner, as well as a small road for matchbox cars.

Cute huh! I was excited to find these - fits perfectly underneath (remember mine has the taller legs). It rolls out and can be a bench to sit on as well, but we usually just keep it underneath.

Thank you so much for thinking to offer these plans. We are so glad we didn’t plunk down a huge sum of money for one of those Thomas/ melamine tables that look so poorly built! And now Jack has the great memory (and pictures) of his dad constructing it and mom painting it so that’s pretty cool! We are very happy we went this route.
