In the beginning we originally planned on painting the playboard ourselves but got pressed for time and purchased the Thomas table top playboard, which fit just perfectly and looked better than we could have done.
Our son loves it and we usually have the neighborhood kids over playing with it. This was so worth the time and saved us so much money. We were able to spend more money on trains and track because we didn't have to buy a table. Plus, you know, it's more personal when you build it yourself and put your own time into it for your little ones.
